I work with businesses to ensure that women are properly supported to progress their career and ensure that they are well-represented throughout the organisation, particularly at senior levels.
According to McKinsey’s Women in the Workplace 2022, for the eighth year running, the “broken rung” of the ladder – when 87 women for every 100 men are promoted to manager – is still holding women back and they never catch up. Companies with women executives are 30% more likely to outperform other companies.
As the report says, businesses need to get more women into leadership positions, and they need to work to retain women leaders already there. Coaching supports both of these aims while improving engagement and retention, building a strong culture, increasing performance, developing leadership and management skills and improving wellbeing.
I work closely with businesses and organisations to understand their goals and challenges to support women – and sometimes men – across a number of areas.
Leading and managing a team is complex and specific to each individual, team and organisation. It can be isolated and lonely and leaders are often unable to confide in members of the team or the organisation without compromising their position. Coaching develops essential leadership attributes such as self-awareness, emotional intelligence, credibility, integrity and trust. I work closely with the organisation and the individual to ensure managers are successful in their role.
Coaching supports clients to address a variety of areas including:
- Clear vision, strategy and planning
- Communication
- Problem solving and decision making
- Team structure, efficiency and effectiveness
- Team culture, motivation and loyalty
- People management and relationships
- Professional development
- Wellbeing

Although the importance of mental health is far better acknowledged and appreciated now, episodes of burnout, stress and anxiety are still common in the workplace and can be extremely distressing and hard to handle.
Coaching can help to:
- Process and rationalise negative, racing and upsetting thoughts and feelings
- Acknowledge the physical strain and tension
- Understand and appreciate the cause of the anxiety
- Set restorative, protective boundaries around rest and work
- Ensure strong pillars of health around sleep, nutrition and exercise
- Establish new behaviours and responses to alleviate the stress and anxiety
I work with organisations to ensure internal conditions promote health and wellbeing.
The transition to parenthood is complex and returning to work after a baby can be challenging. I work with organisations and individuals to ensure the transition out of and back to work is smooth and successful. Coaching enables mothers to process their situation, align with their new identity as a working parent and manage themselves, their role and their new family effectively.
- End to end support from pregnancy through maternity leave to returning to work
- Wellbeing – manage stress, anxiety, pre and post pregnancy
- Acclimatise to new identity as a working mother
- Remain focused, motivated and successful at work
- Establish clear boundaries between home and work
- Process maternal guilt, childcare issues
- Understand and appreciate the benefits of returning to work
- Ensuring good organisational practice
Peri-menopause and menopause symptoms can impact women at work severely. Poor sleep, hot flushes, lack of energy, anxiety, brain fog and weight gain – to name a few – can affect performance and lead to a debilitating loss of confidence. It’s a time when many women are already under pressure with demanding jobs, looking after children and elderly parents. Often, they feel that their only option is to leave their role. I work closely with businesses to ensure the working environment supports women’s needs and with individual women themselves to help them manage themselves successfully.
- Manage anxiety
- Address low confidence and self-esteem
- Ensure healthy lifestyle pillars including sleep, nutrition and exercise
- Support work life balance
- Manage line managers, professional situations and relationships
A 360 Review is a development tool that gives feedback from key stakeholders at different levels. I interview direct reports, peers and managers in confidence to get an in-depth picture of the strengths and weaknesses of an individual and areas to work on for improvement. The review is designed to give a more rounded and clear view of performance and identify themes and goals for coaching and development.
Negative feedback is challenging to hear and extremely hard to absorb, understand and address constructively. Coaching supports the process to transform a negative experience into a positive one which enables the individual to process the feedback to learn and grow and improve performance.
